It’s not hard to notice.
The news is relentless. Many families are doing it tough. Communities feel stretched. And children are growing up in a world that often feels loud, uncertain, and complicated.
Wide-Eyed Wonder was created in response to this.
We’re an Australian non-profit bringing live performing arts to children who would otherwise miss out – kids living with disadvantage, vulnerability, or isolation. We pay artists properly, and we fund performances through community support.
But this isn’t just about entertainment. It’s about wonder.
Why wonder matters … for all of us
Research shows that experiences of awe and wonder:
- Reduce stress
- Increase feelings of connection
- Boost wellbeing
- Encourage generosity and empathy
For children, wonder supports curiosity, emotional development, and resilience. For adults, it reminds us of what matters.
Wonder interrupts despair. It softens hard days. It helps us remember our shared humanity. In times like these, that matters more than ever.
How Wide-Eyed Wonder works
We:
- Fund children’s performers to visit vulnerable communities
- Support disadvantaged children to attend theatre and live events
- Keep processes simple and human
- Encourage storytelling over number crunching
We call our supporters Wonder Funder – individuals, groups, and businesses who help make these experiences possible.
Every contribution helps create moments where children laugh, lean in, and feel alive to the world.
This is your invitation
You don’t have to be an artist or a service provider. If you care about children, if you believe in creativity, if you want to help brighten dark days, you belong here.
Sign up to Wide-Eyed Wonder’s wonder-filled updates, help us share wonder, and we’ll give you back a little wonder as well.
